Default to Happiness

With all the advancements in advertising psychology it’s tempting to think that the right lifestyle, the right medication, or the right job can get you the happiness you’re searching for. The weird thing is joy and contentment aren’t necessarily things a person can gain. That might sound bleak, but the good news is that you already have everything you’re looking for.

Happiness is better thought of as the absence of stress and pain than something that can be bought or obtained. When a person can process the emotions and pain they carry then joy and love naturally start filling in the empty space. Relationships that were once filled with conflict and tension become sources of pleasure and connection.

It’s counterintuitive and not always simple, but being able to decide how you respond to your emotions is the start of a better life. The more you’re aware of how emotions arise the more you are able to identify and anticipate what is driving negative emotions. This enables you to then have increasing control over how you respond.

Eventually, the processing will become easier and easier until it becomes habit and then happens with minimal effort. You are still you, but your day will be less stressful and more joyful. If you are curious to learn more set up a free consultation and I’ll answer your questions.
